The Salty Nerds review the first three films in the Highlander Series and ask the question - wtf were people thinking while making these movies!
The first Highlander movie, starring Christopher Lambert and Clancy Brown, is arguably a classic. A perfect mix of high fantasy and urban fantasy with a unique mythology about immortals dueling to the death until "there can be only one" was innovative and original. The Salty Nerds gush over this film!
Then it all starts to go wrong with Highlander II The Quickening. No longer is the series fantasy, instead it's now sci-fi with some major retcons that will make your head spin. But oddly enough, the "behind the scenes" story about the making of this film is more interesting than the film itself!
Finally, Highlander III The Final Dimension (or The Sorcerer, depending on what version you watched) completely ignores the first two movies and tries to re-capture the magic of the original movie, and fails spectacularly.
