The Salty Nerds welcome special guest, Stargate Atlantis actor David Hewlett, to talk about the original Robocop Trilogy!
First up is the 1987 classic, Robocop, directed by Paul Verhoeven as his first American English-language film. The story follows Detroit police officer Alex Murphey as he gets shot up by the dad from That 70s Show, rebuilt into a cyborg, and lays down the law with the help of Nancy Allen and a vat of toxic waste!
Then we have the disappointing follow-up, Robocop 2, written by Frank Miller and directed by Irvin Kershner in the director's last movie. We have a new drug on the streets, and a more "politically correct" Robocop trying to keep order as OCP tries some questionable methods to build his replacement.
Finally, there's the god-awful Robocop 3, sort-of written by Frank Miller, but also written and directed by Monster Squad director (and Shane Black best buddy) Fred Dekker. Guess what? Robocop flies now! With the help of a brilliant Hispanic little girl computer hacker and some incredibly low-quality special effects.
And throughout (at least two) of the movies, actor David Hewlett is there to offer his thoughts and insights into these awesome (and no to awesome) movies. Come join us for a fun episode as the Salty Nerds do ROBOCOP WEEK!
