Mortal Kombat 2021 movie review by the Salty Nerds goes into detail about how bad movies based on video games are, and asks why they're so hard to get right!
We'd lump the Mortal Kombat movie 2021 into the "dumb but fun" category, because it's story is a complete mess, but the fight scenes are cool and the special effects are pretty good. But the official Salty Nerd Mortal Kombat review is that this movie is a total mess.
That's not to say it isn't entertaining. It's cool to see some of our favorite Mortal Kombat characters brought to life once more. Our Mortal Kombat reaction is one of enjoyment, mostly. But between Mortal Kombat 2021 and Godzilla vs. Kong, HBOMax seems intent on giving us movies with lots of style, but little substance.
We should note that this isn't a Mortal Kombat remake of the 1997 movie. Mortal Kombat 2021 is its own thing, and it doesn't bother to explain ANY of it - which has its pros and cons.
