Heathers movie review from the Salty Nerds has them taking a retrospective look at this dark comedy that tackles a number of controversial subjects.
This "One Hit Wonder" movie failed at the box office - mostly because its teen audience was unable to see an R rated movie. The film stars Winona Ryder and Christian Slater (both early in their careers) and is directed by Michael Lehmann. Essentially, a murderous boyfriend/girlfriend combo kill other popular teens as a form of societal revenge and stage their deaths to look like suicides, but the suicides make the popular kids even more popular than when they were alive.
Oh, and there are a ton of characters named "Heather" in the movie, hence the title Heathers. lol. The script was written by Daniel Waters and originally meant for Stanley Kubrick, who ultimately wanted nothing to do with the film.
