Original vs. Remake: The Thing From Another World (1951)

The Thing From Another World movie review from the Salty Nerds has them looking at the precursor to John Carpenter's classic film, The Thing.  How's it hold up?  

Based on the short story "Who Goes There?" from John W. Campbell Jr., The Thing From Another World deviates widely from the original source material and focuses on a group of scientists and American Air Force pilots who fend off a bloodthristy monster carrot at a remote arctic outpost.  (Not joking.)
